Chest & Trunk Restoration

Antique chests and trunks are more than just storage—they’re a piece of history. Our restoration process ensures they retain their charm while becoming functional once again.

1. Inspection & Assessment

  • We begin by carefully examining the chest, identifying any structural damage, missing hardware, or signs of wear.
  • We assess the wood, metal components, and lining to determine what needs repair, replacement, or preservation.

2. Structural Repairs

  • Loose joints, cracked panels, or broken slats are reinforced or replaced with matching materials.
  • We carefully repair damaged corners, legs, or hinges to restore the chest’s original strength and functionality.

3. Cleaning & Stripping

  • Years of dirt, grime, or old finishes are gently removed using safe cleaning methods that preserve the wood’s integrity.
  • If necessary, we strip away flaking paint or varnish to prepare for refinishing.

4. Wood Refinishing & Preservation

  • The wood is sanded and treated with high-quality stains or finishes to match its original color and character.
  • We apply protective coatings to guard against future wear while enhancing the chest’s natural beauty.

5. Hardware Restoration

  • Rusted locks, hinges, and metal reinforcements are cleaned, polished, or replaced with period-accurate hardware.
  • If the chest features decorative metal elements, we carefully restore or replicate them to maintain authenticity.

6. Lining & Interior Work

  • Torn or deteriorating fabric linings are removed and replaced with period-appropriate materials.
  • If the interior needs repairs or refinishing, we ensure it complements the overall restoration.

7. Final Touches & Protection

  • A final polish and protective coating are applied to enhance longevity.
  • The chest is inspected one last time to ensure it’s both visually stunning and structurally sound.

Lamp Restoration

Antique lamps hold unique charm, and restoring them requires a balance of electrical safety, aesthetic preservation, and structural repair.

1. Assessment & Disassembly

  • We examine the lamp’s structure, wiring, and components to determine what needs replacement or repair.
  • The lamp is carefully taken apart to access all elements, ensuring a thorough restoration.

2. Electrical Rewiring & Safety Upgrades

  • Old or unsafe wiring is removed and replaced with modern, UL-listed electrical components that meet safety standards.
  • If necessary, sockets, switches, and plugs are replaced to ensure safe operation while preserving the original look.

3. Metal & Glass Restoration

  • Tarnished brass, iron, or other metal parts are cleaned, polished, or refinished to bring back their original luster.
  • If the lamp features stained glass or decorative elements, we carefully clean or repair them to maintain their authenticity.

4. Painting & Refinishing

  • For painted lamps, we touch up or completely refinish the surface while maintaining the original design.
  • If patina is part of the lamp’s character, we carefully preserve it while removing dirt and corrosion.

5. Shade Restoration or Replacement

  • If the lamp has an original shade, we restore it by cleaning, repairing, or reinforcing the structure.
  • If a new shade is needed, we match it as closely as possible to the lamp’s period and style.

6. Reassembly & Final Testing

  • The lamp is reassembled, and every component is tested to ensure full functionality and safety.
  • A final polish and protective treatment are applied to keep the lamp looking beautiful for years to come.
